India administers over 93 lakh Covid vaccine doses in a single day, the most ever in a single day

New Delhi: India administered more than 93 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses on Friday, the most ever in a single day, according to the Union Health Ministry.

Another significant achievement is that the country’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed 62 crore (62,09,43,580) doses, according to a preliminary report compiled at 7 p.m. The ministry stated that the final report for the day would be completed by late night.

“Congratulations to the citizens as India today administers historic 90 lakh #COVID19 vaccines until now – and counting,” Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in a tweet.

On August 17, the vaccine was administered to over 88 lakh people across the country.

According to the health ministry, a total of 23,72,15,353 people between the ages of 18 and 44 have received the first dose of the vaccine, and 2,45,60,807 have received the second dose since the start of the third phase of the vaccination drive.

The vaccination campaign as a tool to protect the country’s most vulnerable population groups from COVID-19 is still being reviewed and monitored at the highest level, according to the ministry.
