Kerala’s Class 11 exam will be postponed until September 6, according to the Supreme Court, which has issued an interim stay on the state’s decision

The Kerala government’s proposal to hold the Class XI test physically from September 6 has been temporarily halted by the Supreme Court. The apex court reached this judgment in the face of an increase in COVID-19 cases in the state. The next hearing will be on September 13th.

The state’s Supreme Court has expressed worry over the rising number of COVID cases. The situation in Kerala is “alarming,” according to the court, due to the continued rise of viral cases. The court stated in its judgment that children of a vulnerable age should not be exposed to the risk of 35,000 cases recorded daily in the state.

The decision was handed down by a three-judge panel consisting of Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice Hrishikesh Roy, and Justice CT Ravikumar. “I served as Chief Justice of Kerala, and I can confidently state that the state has one of the best medical infrastructures in the country. Despite this, Kerala has not been able to keep Covid instances under control “NDTV cited Justice Hrishikesh Roy as saying.

Kerala, which reported the country’s first coronavirus case in early 2020, reported 32,097 additional COVID-19 illnesses and 188 deaths on September 2, bringing the total number of infections and deaths to 41,22,133 and 21,149, respectively. Kerala had reported over 30,000 coronavirus cases for the third day in a row. COVID cases in the state account for more than 70% of all cases in the country.

Kerala needed to step up its efforts to reduce the rising number of COVID cases, according to the Union Health Ministry, which asked for a “wise and planned lockdown.” The Ministry of Health has previously warned that if sufficient measures were not taken, the disease might now spread to neighboring states. The state of Karnataka has already said travellers from Kerala need to provide a negative RT-PCR test no older than 72 hours, despite vaccination status.
