In 24 hours, India records 42,618 new COVID-19 cases and 330 deaths

New Delhi: According to data issued by the Ministry of Health on Saturday, India registered 42,618 new COVID-19 cases and 330 fatalities in the last 24 hours, bringing the total caseload to 3,29,45,907 and the total death toll to 4,40,225. (September 4, 2021).

The country also recorded 36,385 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,21,00,001, and the active caseload to 4,05,681. The daily positivity rate is at 2.50 percent.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India has administered over 67.72 crore vaccine doses so far as part of the statewide COVID-19 vaccination effort. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 52,82,40,038 samples have been tested for COVID-19 as of September 3. On Friday, 17,04,970 of these samples were examined.

Meanwhile, on Friday (September 3, 2021), the Central Government filed a counter-affidavit in the Kerala High Court, claiming that the 84-day interval between the first and second doses of Covishield vaccination provides the optimum protection against COVID-19.

“India’s National COVID Vaccination Program was founded on scientific and epidemiological research, World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, and worldwide best practices,” according to the affidavit.

“The schedule for the Covishield vaccine under the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme is based on NEGVAC recommendations, with the second dose administered 12-16 weeks after the first dose. This is based on the technical judgment that the 84-day interval between the first and second doses of Covishield provides the optimum protection against COVID-19 “According to the affidavit.

Furthermore, with the second wave of COVID-19 fading, Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope informed locals on Friday (September 3, 2021) that no additional lockdown will be imposed in the state in the next days, but that all inhabitants should continue to follow safety precautions.

“There is no chance of a new lockdown in the immediate future. I urge folks to avoid crowding during the Ganesh celebration. “The celebration should be straightforward,” he told reporters.
