Kozhikode: Health Minister Veena George arrived in Kozhikode on Sunday to assess the situation in the aftermath of Nipah’s death. She attended a review meeting of various departments at the collectorate after attending the meeting at the guest house in the morning. Currently, there are 158 contacts on the list, 20 of which are from the index case. Two of them exhibit symptoms.
According to the Health Minister, a control room for Nipah has been established in Kozhikode, and one ward of the Kozhikode Medical College has been designated as a Nipah ward. Medical units are visiting Chathamangalam, Chuloor, and the surrounding areas where Nipah has been confirmed.
The minister stated that all necessary precautions had been taken by Saturday evening, even before the child’s test results were released.
