In 24 hours, India records 38,948 new COVID-19 cases and 219 deaths

New Delhi: According to data released by the Ministry of Health on Monday, India recorded 38,948 new COVID-19 cases and 219 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total caseload to 3,30,27,621 and the total death toll to 4,40,752. (September 6, 2021).

The country also recorded 43,903 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,21,81,995, and the active caseload to 4,04,874. The rate of recovery is 97.44 percent. For the last 73 days, the weekly positivity rate of 2.58 percent has been lower than the 3 percent mark.

On Monday, Kerala remained the leading contributor to the country’s 38,948 new cases and 219 deaths, with 26,701 COVID-19 cases and 74 deaths.

Meanwhile, the Nipah virus has emerged as a new threat in the state, prompting officials to increase the alertness of the state’s health system. In addition, the center has dispatched a team from the National Center for Disease Control to Kerala to assist the state, where a 12-year-old boy died from Nipah on Sunday.

The five states with the highest number of coronavirus infections, according to data released by the Ministry of Health on Monday, are Kerala with 26,701 cases, Maharashtra with 4,057 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 1,623 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,592 cases, and Karnataka with 1,117 cases.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), over 14,10,649 people were tested for the virus during the day, with a total of 53,14,68,867 samples tested across the country. According to the central body, 68,75,41,762 vaccine doses against the virus have been administered across the country as part of the nationwide inoculation drive launched earlier this year.
