India reports 31,222 new COVID-19 cases and 290 deaths in 24 hours, with Kerala continuing to be the leading contributor

NEW DELHI: India reported 31,222 new COVID-19 cases in the previous 24 hours on Tuesday, slightly fewer than on Monday, according to the Health and Family Welfare Ministry. During this time, the country lost 290 people, bringing the total to 441,042.

There are currently 3,92,864 active cases, and the country’s total COVID-19 caseload has reached 3,30,58,843. “A single-day increase of 31,222 COVID-19 cases and 290 fatalities brings India’s infection tally to 3,30,58,843, and the death toll to 4,41,042,” said the Health Ministry in an official statement.

Kerala recorded 19,688 cases and 135 deaths out of 31,222 new cases and 290 deaths reported in India in the last 24 hours, according to Health Ministry data. Kerala continues to be the largest contributor to the daily COVID-19 count.

The case fatality rate was calculated to be 1.33 percent. The number of active cases has decreased to 3,92,864, accounting for 1.19 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 97.48 percent, according to the Health Ministry.

According to data released by the Ministry of Health on Monday, India recorded 38,948 new COVID-19 cases and 219 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total caseload to 3,30,27,621 and the total death toll to 4,40,752. (September 6, 2021).

The country also recorded 43,903 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,21,81,995, and the active caseload to 4,04,874. The rate of recovery is 97.44 percent. For the last 73 days, the weekly positivity rate of 2.58 percent has been lower than the 3 percent mark.

In a historic achievement, India administered over 1 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses for the third time in 11 days on Monday. The country’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has now surpassed 69.68 crores, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, followed by 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

On May 4, India passed the two-crore mark, and on June 23, it passed the three-crore mark.
