India reports an increase in COVID-19 infections, with Kerala adding 30,196 new cases in 24 hours

NEW DELHI: With 43,263 new COVID-19 cases reported on Thursday, India reported an increase in single-day new coronavirus infections across the country.

According to data released this morning by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, “India reported 43,263 new COVID-19 cases and 338 deaths in the last 24 hours.”

During this time, the country reported 40,567 COVID-19 recoveries. With this, the country’s total number of cases reached 3.31 crore (3,31,39,981), while the death toll reached 4.41 lakh (4,41,749).

“The active cases increased to 3,93,614 representing 1.19 percent of total infections,” the Health Ministry said. “The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.48 percent.”

More than 40,000 (40,567) patients recovered from coronavirus, bringing the total number of active cases to 3.91 lakh (3,93,614). Kerala recorded 30,196 new cases and 181 deaths in the last 24 hours, accounting for 30.6% of all new cases and deaths reported in India.

On Wednesday, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage surpassed the 71-crore mark (71,52,54,153). On Wednesday, India reported 37,875 new cases of COVID-19 infections in the country in the previous 24 hours.

The country reported 369 COVID-19-related deaths during this time period, bringing the total death toll to 4,41,411.

Until Wednesday, more than 73 lakh (73,80,510) doses had been administered. On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, followed by 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16.

It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

On May 4, India passed the two-crore mark, and on June 23, it passed the three-crore mark.
