Britney Spears and boyfriend Sam Asghari have announced their engagement
Britney Spears, who has been fighting a conservatorship that governs her personal life and finances, announced her engagement to longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari on Sunday.
The “Stronger” singer shared a video of herself standing next to Asghari, flashing a gleaming ring on her hand. “I can’t fucking believe it,” she captioned the photo, which included ring emojis.
Asghari also shared a photo of the couple kissing, with Spears extending her finger with the ring. Brandon Cohen, Asghari’s manager, confirmed the couple’s engagement.
“The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication, and love shown to them,” Cohen wrote in an email.

Spears, 39, has previously been married twice. In 2004, she married childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas, but the marriage was annulled a few days later. Later that year, she married dancer Kevin Federline, with whom she had two children before divorcing in 2007.
Asghari, 27, is an Iranian-born personal trainer and actor who has appeared on the Showtime series “Black Monday.” In 2016, he and Spears began dating.
In June, Spears told a Los Angeles court that her father’s 13-year-old conservatorship was abusive, saying, “I just want my life back.” She expressed a desire to marry and have more children.
Last week, Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, stated that circumstances had changed and that he had filed a petition to have the conservatorship lifted. The case’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 29.
