COVID-19 cases are declining, with India reporting fewer than 30,000 new infections and 291 deaths in 24 hours

NEW DELHI: For the second day in a row, India saw a significant decrease in daily new cases of COVID-19 infections. The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry reported a single-day increase of 27,254 coronavirus infections in India, bringing the total to 33,264,175.

“Of the 27,254 new COVID-19 cases and 219 deaths reported in India in the last 24 hours, Kerala recorded 20,240 COVID-19 cases and 67 deaths,” according to the Health Ministry.

Active cases of COVID-19 infections fell by nearly 10,652 during this time period, to 3,74,269. According to data released at 8 a.m., the COVID-19-related death toll has risen to 44,28,74, with 219 daily fatalities reported on Monday.

“Active cases have decreased to 3,74,269, accounting for 1.16 percent of total infections, while the COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 97.51 percent,” according to the health ministry. According to the report, the number of active cases decreased by 10,652 in a 24-hour period.

“A total of 54,30,14,076 Covid-19 samples were tested up to September 12th. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 12,08,247 samples were tested yesterday (ICMR).

According to the health ministry, the daily positivity rate was 2.26 percent, and it has been less than 3% for the past 14 days. The weekly positivity rate was 2.11 percent, and it has been less than 3% for the past 80 days.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 32,44,70,32, with a case fatality rate of 1.33 percent. According to the ministry, the total number of Covid vaccine doses administered in the country has surpassed 74.38 crore.

On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, followed by 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

On May 4, India passed the two-crore mark, and on June 23, it passed the three-crore mark.
