In 24 hours, India records 30,570 new COVID-19 cases and 431 deaths

New Delhi: According to data released by the Ministry of Health on Thursday, India recorded 30,570 new COVID-19 cases and 431 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total caseload to 3,33,47,325 and the total death toll to 4,43,928. (September 16, 2021).

The country also recorded 38,303 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,25,60,474, and the active caseload to 3,42,923. In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has been reduced by 8,164 cases.

The rate of recovery is 97.64 percent. For the last 83 days, the weekly positivity rate of 1.93 percent has been lower than the 3 percent mark.

Meanwhile, the Director of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) stated on Wednesday (September 15, 2021) that COVID-19 will become endemic in India within the next six months. The top NCDC expert also stated that the emergence of a new variant cannot alone cause the third wave of infections.

In an interview with NDTV, NCDC Director Sujeet Singh stated, “This pandemic has defied most of our predictions, but we will approach endemic status in the next six months.”

“If we can control mortality and morbidity, then we can manage the disease,” Dr Singh said in an interview, adding that Kerala is also recovering from the COVID-19 crisis.
