Kerala Braces for Heavy Rains: IMD Issues Warning

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy spells of rain in Kerala, extending from November 5th to November 9th. The state is expected to experience widespread rainfall, with specific districts facing isolated heavy showers on different dates.

According to the IMD’s release, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, and Wayanad are likely to witness heavy rainfall on November 6th. On November 7th, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad are expected to be affected by heavy showers. Palakkad and Malappuram will likely experience heavy rainfall on November 8th, and on November 9th, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod are in the zone of heavy rain predictions.

The IMD has urged residents and authorities to stay alert and take necessary precautions in the wake of the predicted heavy rainfall. The advisory includes being vigilant about potential flooding, landslides, and disruptions in transportation due to waterlogging. People in the affected areas are advised to follow local authorities’ instructions and keep emergency numbers handy. The situation will be closely monitored as the state prepares for significant rainfall over the next few days.
