There are compelling reasons to include fish oil supplements in your diet

Regardless of how bad a reputation fats have, it’s critical to include healthy fats in your diet, and there are numerous promising benefits to doing so.
Omega-3 fatty acids are among the healthiest. This one nutrient is not only something that many people lack in their diet, but it is also quite nutritious and nourishing. More specifically, Omega-3 acids found in fish and certain seafood are said to be far more enriching and superior to traces found in processed oils or other natural foods. For the same reason, fish oil is frequently recommended as part of a healthy diet.

But is it true that healthy and beneficial? Should everyone have fish oil supplements? We tell you

Omega-3 fatty acids, a type of unsaturated fat, are said to be extremely high in quality when obtained from the sea or in the form of seafood.
Fish oil and fish oil supplements are derived from fatty tissues found in seafood such as salmon, fish, sardines, and trout. While Omega-3 is found in cod liver oil and krill oil, fish oil is thought to be the most beneficial because it also contains a healthy dose of Vitamin A and D, as well as anti-inflammatory properties.

The two types of Omega-3 found in fish include EPA and DHA, which are both excellent to support bodily health and functioning.

Health benefits of including fish oil in your diet

There are many, helpful benefits of including fish oil in your diet or having rich Omega-3 seafood in your diet:

1. Reduces triglyceride and cholesterol levels
Unlike other types of fat, regular consumption of Omega-3 fatty acids can help lower triglyceride levels in the blood and reduce the risk of heart disease. According to studies, people who ate fish twice a week or took fish oil supplements had a lower risk of heart disease and high cholesterol levels.

2. It feeds the brain.
There is a significant reason why Omega-3s are regarded as elixirs for a healthier brain. Fish oil and its anti-inflammatory properties can help promote brain function at the cellular level and keep it agile as you age.
While scientists continue to assess the benefits of Omega-3 fish oil in lowering or preventing the risk of Alzheimer’s or Dementia, some studies have shown that those who take Omega-3 supplements have a lower risk threshold of cognitive decline.

3. Reduces joint inflammation
As anti-inflammatory as Omega-3 is, it is claimed that taking fish oil supplements can significantly help relieve and lower levels of inflammation in the joints and muscles, which is especially beneficial for those suffering from a painful, chronic condition such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Omega-3 fatty acids have also been linked to a reduction in the production of cytokines and other inflammatory compounds.

Also remember to not overdose on your own and follow expert-advised dosage guidelines. As per the FDA and other leading heath bodies, adults should have 5 gm of EPA and DHA combined in one day, from supplements. Certain people, at risk, however, may need higher doses and the side-effect risk could be potentially higher.

It’s also crucial that these supplements are best taken with meals and not on empty stomachs. Taking the pill along with food can boost fat absorption and cut down chances of developing nausea, heartburn, and other digestive side-effects.
