Typhoon Chanthu cancels 49 flights in Japan, injuring over five people

Tokyo: Typhoon Chanthu has hit Japan, injuring at least five people and canceling 49 flights, according to media reports on Saturday (September 18, 2021).

According to the NHK news broadcaster, the flights were canceled in Japan’s southwestern regions on the islands of Shikoku and Kyushu.
People were injured as a result of the typhoon in Nagasaki, Fukuoka, and Saga prefectures.

Chanthu is currently moving eastward over the central Pacific coast of Japan. The typhoon’s wind gusts reach speeds of up to 30 meters per second (67 miles per hour).
