Google is planning to make the Pixel-exclusive ‘Locked Folder’ option available to all Android phones

New Delhi: Google has confirmed that the Locked Folder in Photos will be available soon on all Android devices.

In June, the feature was made available exclusively on newer Pixel phones. According to The Verge, Google has not provided an exact date for when the feature will be made more widely available.

The Photos Locked Folder will be available soon for Android 6.0 and newer devices. Users will be able to set up this folder after receiving a notification from Google Photos once it is live.

Google Photos Locked Folder hides specific images/videos from the app’s main grid, search, and “apps that access your device photos.”

Furthermore, these photos will not be backed up or shared, and access to them will be restricted by a device screen lock. Even when inside a secure area, users will not be permitted to take screenshots.

“You can add photos to a passcode-protected space in @googlephotos using Locked Folder, and they will not appear as you scroll through photos or other apps on your phone. Locked Folder will be available first on Google Pixel, followed by additional Android devices throughout the year “Earlier, the company stated in a tweet

In the Google Photos app, go to Library > Utilities > Locked Folder to create a Locked Folder.
