On Monday, 8,063 new Covid cases were reported in Kerala; the TPR fell to 9.44.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 8,063 new Covid cases on Monday, according to a press release from the state health department. With 110 new deaths, the death toll reached 12,989. The test positivity rate was 9.44.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thiruvananthapuram – 1100, Thrissur – 944, Kollam – 833, Malappuram – 824, Kozhikode – 779, Ernakulam – 721, Palakkad – 687, Kasaragod – 513, Alappuzha – 451, Kannur – 450, Kottayam – 299, Pathanamthitta – 189, Wayanad – 175 and Idukki – 98.

In the last 24 hours, 85,445 samples were tested. In total, 2,28,09,717 samples were sent for testing, including routine samples, sentinel samples, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, and antigen.

57 new COVID patients were returned from out of state. Contact with the virus resulted in the infection of 7463 people. The source of infection for 495 patients has yet to be identified.

The district-wise statistics of contact cases: Thiruvananthapuram – 1011, Thrissur – 934, Kollam – 829, Malappuram – 811, Kozhikode – 757, Ernakulam – 687, Palakkad – 384, Kasaragod – 495, Alappuzha – 439, Kannur – 399, Kottayam – 284, Pathanamthitta – 181, Wayanad – 166 and Idukki – 86.

48 other health workers tested positive for Covid-19. There were 11 from Kannur, 9 from Kasaragod, 8 from Ernakulam, 5 from Thiruvananthapuram, 3 from Kollam and Thrissur, 2 from Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Palakkad, and Kozhikode, and 1 from Wayanad.

In the meantime, the state reported 11,529 recoveries.

The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram – 1593, Kollam – 1306, Pathanamthitta – 438, Alappuzha – 711, Kottayam – 523, Idukki – 393, Ernakulam – 1221, Thrissur – 1108, Palakkad – 1018, Malappuram – 1104, Kozhikode – 965, Wayanad – 263, Kannur – 391 and Kasaragod – 495.

With this, the state’s active caseload reached 96,012. So far, 27,87,496 people have recovered from the disease.

In the state, 3,90,230 people are currently being monitored. There are 3,64,543 people under home/institutional quarantine, and 25,687 are in hospitals. On Monday, 1936 people were taken to hospitals.

There are 313 local bodies with TPRs less than 8, 545 with TPRs between 8 and 16, 152 with TPRs between 16 and 24, and 24 with TPRs greater than 24. The number of tests in the local bodies will be increased based on the TPR.
