Zero is recorded in Mumbai For the first time since the pandemic began, a COVID-19 death has occurred

New Delhi: Mumbai, India’s financial capital, did not report a single death due to COVID-19 on Sunday (October 17, 2021), for the first time nearly since the coornavirus pandemic broke out in March last year.

For the first time since March 26, 2020, the city of Mumbai reported zero deaths due to the virus during the day, according to Mumbai civic commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal.

“This is fantastic news for all of us in Mumbai,” said the top official.

On March 11, 2020, the city reported its first coronavirus positive case, and six days later, on March 17, 2020, it reported its first death.

“As municipal commissioner, I salute team MCGM (Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai) for their spectacular performance,” he added.

Additionally, Mumbai logged 367 positive cases on Sunday, taking the caseload to 7,50,808 and the death toll 16,180.

According to a statement from the Mumbai civic health department, 518 patients recovered during the day, bringing the total number of recoveries to 7,27,084.

A total of 28,697 tests were performed, bringing the total number of tests to 1,09,57,392.

There are currently 5,030 active COVID-19 cases in Mumbai. It has a 97 percent recovery rate and a case doubling rate of 1,214 days. From October 10 to 16, the overall growth rate of coronavirus cases was 0.06 percent.

On April 4, 2021, Mumbai had the most cases with 11,163 and the most deaths with 90 on May 1 this year.

“Let us all keep the mask on our face and let every citizen of Mumbai get vaccinated if some of us haven’t yet. I appeal to everyone to help us keep Mumbai safe,” he added.
