Army man from Kota requests for euthanasia after the unfortunate death of his parents

Rajasthan : A soldier from Kota has requested permission for euthanasia from the President of India after failing to get the bodies of his parents who were murdered in Karauli district of Rajasthan around 16 months ago.

Hajarilal, 61, and Kailashi Bai, 56, parents of 41-year-old nayab subedar Vijay Kumar were abducted from their house in Kota railway station area on January 8, 2018 after which a missing report was lodged at Udhyog Nagar police station in the city. The case was later transferred to Lakheri police station in Bundi after the location of the phones of the victims were traced.

Lakheri police found it to be a case of abduction and murder during probe and finally revealed on February 6 last year that the elderly couple was murdered in Karauli district’s Mandrayal region. Vijay told police that Ghanshyam Meena and his wife Rajkumari Meena were their tenants and they allegedly killed his father on January 8 and mother on January 9. Subsequently both had been arrested, and at their instance, their accomplices Sukhram and Angad were held for the murder of the couple.

While Angad was charged with criminal conspiracy and is out on bail now, the other three accused were arrested for murder and abduction and are in jail.

Vijay also told police that the accused first stole his mother’s jewellery and then called them to Karauli for meeting a tantrik who would help them in searching the stolen jewellery. The couple was allegedly strangled and stoned to death once they reached there.

Lakheri police confiscated the clothes and blood samples of the parents from the murder site but have failed to recover their bodies so far. Despite interrogation, the accused did not reveal the location of the bodies.

Bundi superintendent of police Mamta Bhargava said: “Bundi police did an extensive probe and also constituted a special police team for recovery of the bodies but so far have not been able to get success.” She said police have interrogated the accused and also did a narcotic test (on Ghanshyam and Angad) for getting information about the whereabouts of the bodies but the accused did not reveal anything. A police search team also searched for the bodies in the Chambal river.

Vijay has now demanded euthanasia from President Ram Nath Kovind after failing to get justice for over 15 months.

While demanding a CBI probe into the case now, Vijay said he has written to the Prime Minister’s Office, Union defence ministry, Union home ministry, National Human Rights Commission, National Human Rights and Social Justice Commission, National Commission for Women among other government agencies.

“It is an irony that an army man who looks after the security of the motherland is moving from pillar to post for recovery of his parents’ bodies so that he can perform the last rites,” he said. “I have lost my patience now after fighting for so long without success,” he added.
