Kerala theatres have been exempted from paying the entertainment tax

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government announced more concessions for theatre owners reeling from the financial impact of the Covid-induced lockdown on Wednesday.

This fiscal year, the government will waive the entertainment tax on theatres from April 1 to December 31.

Theatres will also be permitted to pay the rest of the sum in six instalments.

The state has already reduced the number of vaccine doses required for admission to cinemas from two to one.

The state’s Covid regulations will be enforced on movie theatres.

For each show, theatres are only permitted to fill up to half of their seating capacity.

The use of sanitizers and face masks, as well as social distancing, are required at the theatres. Theatres should be disinfected during the intermission.
