Yogi Adityanath to flag off Kanpur Metro trial run today

Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will launch a trial run of the Kanpur Metro train today (November 10, 2021), according to an official.

According to District Magistrate Vishak G Ayyar, the event will take place at the Metro depot at Government Polytechnic, and the Chief Minister will flag off the Metro train for trial runs.

Kumar Keshav, Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), will brief Adityanath on the metro project, according to the District Magistrate.

According to sources, the trial run, which was originally scheduled for the middle of November, has been moved up.

Two Metro train sets are already parked at the depot, and one of them will be used for testing. According to an official, each train has three coaches.

Metro services are expected to be available to the general public on December 31. The 12 metro trains will run between the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and Motijheel, the official added.

The first phase of work between IIT-Kanpur and Motijheel is nearly complete, according to the DM, who added that the Metro train will run on a nine-kilometer stretch in the first phase.

The second phase of Metro construction would take place between Motijheel and Transport Nagar.

Following the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister will meet with district and health officials at the Kanpur Development Authority auditorium to review the district’s efforts to combat the Zika virus, according to an official.

Adityanath will also visit Zika virus-affected areas to meet with family members of those infected by the virus and assess the health services provided to them as well as the cleanliness drive in the area.
