Are you planning a trip to a nearby market? Check out Google Maps’ new feature that warns you about congested areas

New Delhi: Google launched a new feature on Google Maps on Wednesday (November 17) to provide users with information about congested areas. You can use the feature to determine whether or not the area you intend to visit is crowded.

The tech titan’s new feature is expected to benefit holiday shoppers. It consists of Area Busyness and Directories. Users can use Area Busyness, a new feature that combines live busyness trends to help them instantly spot when a neighbourhood or part of town is nearing or at its busiest, according to Google.

“To keep you stress-free in the coming weeks, we’re launching new Google Maps tools to help you stay safe, maximise your time with loved ones, and find that perfect holiday brunch spot,” the company said in a blog post.

Furthermore, Google is expanding its Directory tab on Android and iOS to include all airports, malls, and transit stations worldwide. This will allow users all over the world to quickly navigate large buildings.

“Now that we have this data, you can quickly see what types of stores (like toy stores or jewellery boutiques) are in a building, airport lounges, car rentals, parking lots, and more,” the company said.

“And within each category, you can see a list of the relevant businesses, as well as useful information like whether it’s open, its rating, and what floor it’s on,” it continued.
