Haryana is planning to implement an odd-even scheme to combat air pollution

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has stated that the state government intends to implement the odd-even scheme for vehicles in order to reduce air pollution.

The Chief Minister stated to the media on Wednesday, “The Haryana government intends to implement the odd-even scheme for vehicles. We have also formed a committee of engineers, the commissioner of the Gurugram Municipal Corporation, and the DC to investigate pollution-reduction alternatives.”

“The Supreme Court’s directives yesterday, such as closing schools, colleges, and industries for a few days, and the closure of some thermal plants, are also being considered,” Khattar added.

Khattar also stated that a committee has been formed to control pollution in four districts of the state’s NCR. Engineers and the commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), as well as officers from the relevant departments, will serve on the committee.

This committee will brainstorm ways to reduce pollution and propose solutions. Aside from that, Supreme Court orders on air pollution will be strictly enforced.

On Wednesday, the Chief Minister met with media representatives after presiding over the monthly meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee in Gurugram.

During this meeting, 16 complaints were presented to the Chief Minister, 14 of which were resolved on the spot. Concerning the illegal advertisement in Gurugram city, the CM stated that the MCG has launched a campaign to remove illegal advertisements in the last 15 days.

He stated that approximately Rs 400 crore in advertisement dues are owed on behalf of numerous companies, but that these cases are still pending in court. That amount will be recovered following the court’s decision.

The Chief Minister also stated that the Municipal Corporation is gradually taking over the builder’s colonies. Five of Gurugram City’s eight colonies were supposed to be transferred to the Municipal Corporation.

“DLF Phase-3 is also to be transferred in this episode, but residents of DLF Phase-3 will have to pay maintenance charges to DLF until the transfer is completed.” DLF will have until December 31, 2021 to complete the infrastructure and basic facilities in this colony. After that, if there is any shortcoming, the Municipal Corporation will assess it and work will be completed at DLF’s expense,” he said.
