IMD Predicts Isolated Heavy Rainfall in Six Kerala Districts Today

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating heavy rainfall in isolated regions of Kerala. A yellow alert has been issued for Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts on Sunday.

According to the IMD, the prediction suggests a range of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rainfall within a 24-hour period.

The IMD’s statement also mentions the likelihood of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning at isolated locations in Kerala on September 17 and 18. Additionally, gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 km/h to 40 km/h, along with rain, thunderstorms, and lightning, are anticipated on September 19 and September 21.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has issued a warning about the possibility of coastal waves ranging from 0.6 to 2.0 meters in height along the Kerala coast until 6:30 pm on Sunday.
