India Survives Kiwis Scare, Storms into ICC World Cup Final with Thrilling Victory

In a nail-biting semi-final thriller at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, India secured a thrilling victory, defeating New Zealand by 70 runs, and advanced to the final of the ICC World Cup 2023.

The highly competitive game, initially seeming to favor New Zealand, took a dramatic turn due to an outstanding bowling performance by Mohammed Shami, who took seven wickets, almost single-handedly dismantling the New Zealand batting lineup.

The World Cup semi-final at Wankhede Stadium was a gripping spectacle as New Zealand, after facing early batting setbacks, mounted a comeback with a remarkable century by Darryl Mitchell. Mitchell’s stellar performance, coupled with destructive batting, kept the thousands of spectators at Wankhede on the edge of their seats.

India set a formidable target by scoring 397 runs for four wickets in the limited-overs match, with Virat Kohli’s record-breaking century (117) and Shreyas Iyer’s dominant performance. This victory marked India’s tenth consecutive win in the World Cup tournament, setting a new record. The second semi-final between Australia and South Africa is scheduled to take place in Kolkata on Thursday.
