Controversy Erupts Over Udhayanidhi Stalin’s ‘Sanatan Dharma’ Remark; Complaint Filed with Delhi Police

Udhayanidhi Stalin’s controversial remark about ‘Sanatan dharma’ has sparked a dispute, leading to a complaint filed by a Supreme Court lawyer with the Delhi Police.

Home Minister Amit Shah criticized opposition parties in the INDIA coalition for Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments regarding ‘Sanatan dharma,’ accusing them of exploiting it for vote bank politics and appeasement.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare Minister, claimed that ‘Sanatan dharma’ opposes equality and social justice and should be eliminated. Shah asserted that DMK leaders, including the son of the Tamil Nadu chief minister, are advocating for the abolishment of ‘Sanatan dharma’ for the sake of gaining votes, which he considered an insult to it.

Shah, during a public rally in Dungarpur, Rajasthan, criticized the INDIA alliance, referring to them as “ghamandiya gathbandhan,” and suggested that their opposition to ‘Sanatan dharma’ diminishes their visibility. He emphasized that ‘Sanatan’ holds a special place in people’s hearts, and the country is governed by the Constitution.

Regarding the Ram temple issue, Shah alleged that the Congress obstructed its construction for years, but after a Supreme Court order, Prime Minister Modi initiated the bhumi pujan (ground-breaking ceremony), and the temple is set to be completed in January, at the birthplace of Lord Ram.

Simultaneously, a Supreme Court lawyer, Vineet Jindal, filed a complaint with the Delhi Police against Udhayanidhi Stalin for his contentious statement. Jindal claimed that Udhayanidhi Maran made provocative, inflammatory, derogatory, and inciting remarks against Sanatan Dharam, causing hurt to the religious sentiments of Hindus. He accused Udhayanidhi of promoting enmity among religious groups and violating sections 153A and B, 295A, 298, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code, urging the police to register an FIR against him.

Udhayanidhi Stalin had spoken at an event where he called for a ‘Sanatana Abolition Conference.’
