Harnaaz Sandhu of India wins the prestigious Miss Universe 2021 pageant

NEW DELHI: Harnaaz Sandhu of India has been crowned Miss Universe 2021. The 21-year-old was one of the top three finalists at the 70th Miss Universe pageant, which was held in Eilat, Israel.

She competed against contestants from Paraguay and South Africa in the final leg of the competition to win the title. Andrea Meza, former Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico, presented Sandhu with the crown at the event, which was live-streamed worldwide.

Steve Harvey returned as host for the extravaganza.

Harnaaz is from Chandigarh and represented India in the international beauty pageant.

She began her modeling career by winning the Times Fresh Face award in 2017.

The 21-year-old diva is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree. She has won several pageant titles, including Femina Miss India Punjab 2019.

Harnaaz is inspired by her mother, who defied patriarchy to become a successful gynecologist and leader of her family.

She speaks Hindi, Punjabi, and English fluently and enjoys writing couplets in her mother tongue Punjabi.

Fans from all over India are now expressing their joy on social media. They had prayed for Harnaaz to return the crown.

India has won the title twice, once with Sushmita Sen in 1994 and once with Lara Dutta in 2000.
