Kochi International Airport Unveils Seven Major Projects, Enhancing Travel Experience

Kochi International Airport (CIAL) is set to unveil seven major projects, marking a new chapter in travel excellence. Scheduled for inauguration by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, these projects include an advanced import cargo terminal, cutting-edge DigiYatra software for streamlined domestic terminal entry, and a state-of-the-art airport security system. Additionally, the event will mark the completion of the first phase of the international terminal development, the grand opening of the 0484 Luxury Aero Lounge, and the launch of golf resorts, sports centers, and electronic security installations.

The newly introduced import cargo terminal will significantly augment CIAL’s cargo handling capacity, accommodating up to 2 lakh metric tonnes annually. The innovative DigiYatra software, crafted by CIAL’s IT department, aims to simplify entry procedures at domestic terminal gates, ensuring a seamless passenger experience. Furthermore, the expansion includes a vast 5 lakh square feet of international terminal space, featuring a sprawling 15 lakh square feet apron. Among the highlights is the 0484 Luxury Aero Lounge, the largest airport lounge in the country, situated adjacent to Terminal 2, covering an expansive area of 50,000 sq. ft. Additionally, the airport’s security infrastructure will see improvements with the construction of a Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS) along the 12-km security wall, ensuring comprehensive safety. Moreover, the development plan also includes the creation of upscale resorts and sports centers at the CIAL Golf Course, aiming to elevate the state’s golf tourism sector to international standards.
