In India, 25 Omicron cases have been detected; the government emphasises the importance of adhering to precautionary measures

According to the Health Ministry, approximately 25 cases of the Omicron variant have been detected in the country thus far. Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary of the Union Health Ministry, also stated that the cases have mild symptoms and that less than 0.04 percent of total variants were detected.

Lav Agarwal urged people to practice social distancing in order to slow the spread of the variant. “Aside from vaccination, WHO emphasized that public health measures should be followed on a continuous basis. Adequate precautions must be taken… Laxity in public health measures has resulted in an increase in COVID cases in Europe “Lav Agarwal was quoted by ANI. In addition, he stated that states have been advised to increase their surveillance and actively test passengers arriving from other countries in light of the spread.

According to the Hindustan Times, during a press conference, Niti Aayog member (health) Dr VK Paul stated that people are operating at a “risky and unacceptable” level and emphasised the importance of both masks and vaccines for protection against coronavirus disease.

“In India, the use of masks is declining. We must keep in mind the importance of both vaccines and masks. In terms of protection capability, we are now operating at a risky and unacceptable level. “We should take lessons from the global situation,” Paul stated.

A new case of Omicron was discovered in the Mumbai neighbourhood of Dharavi. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the individual had returned from Tanzania and was currently being treated at Seven Hills Hospital. The patient is also asymptomatic and has not been vaccinated, according to BMC.
