Kerala Mourns the Loss of Veteran Communist Leader Kanam Rajendran: Public Homage and Final Rites Today

The entire state of Kerala is preparing to bid a final farewell to the esteemed communist leader, Kanam Rajendran. The revered politician’s mortal remains will be cremated with official honors at 11 AM today at his residence in Kanam. The procession, which began its journey at 3 AM, reached Rajendran’s house in Kottayam, with the body placed for public homage in the courtyard by 7:30 AM.

In a touching display of respect, thousands of followers lined the roads during the funeral procession to pay their last respects. The procession experienced delays due to the overwhelming crowd, eventually reaching the Kottayam CPI district committee office around 1 AM on Sunday. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, along with other ministers, MLAs, and CPI national secretary D Raja, is expected to arrive in Kanam this morning.

Following Kanam’s untimely demise, the CPM politburo meeting concluded on Saturday. Kottayam CPI district secretary Advocate VB Binu has announced a condolence meeting at Mammen Mappilla memorial hall on Monday.
