India government bans Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation

India government has banned the Islamic Research Foundation of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik . The ban has been imposed by the Indian government under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Delhi High Court Chief Justice Justice D.N. Patel’s tribunals today raised the matter for a preliminary hearing.

“The Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) has been involved in activities that are contrary to the security of the country and can harm peace and communal harmony and disrupt the secular atmosphere of the country.” read a statement issued by The Union Home Ministry
