PM Narendra Modi will meet with women and distribute Rs 1000 crore to 1.6 lakh SHG members in Prayagraj today

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday and deposit Rs 1,000 crore in the bank accounts of Self Help Groups (SHGs), benefiting approximately 16 lakh women members of the SHGs.

Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), this transfer is being carried out as part of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM), with 80,000 SHGs receiving Community Investment Fund (CIF) of Rs 1.10 lakh per SHG and 60,000 SHGs receiving Revolving Fund of Rs 15,000 per SHG. On December 21, Prime Minister Modi will pay a visit to Prayagraj.

At around 1 p.m., the Prime Minister will take part in a one-of-a-kind event attended by over two lakh women.

The programme is being held in accordance with the Prime Minister’s vision of empowering women, particularly at the grassroots level, by providing them with the necessary skills, incentives, and resources.

Business Correspondent – Sakhis

The Prime Minister will also encourage Business Correspondent-Sakhis (BC-Sakhis) by transferring Rs 4,000 as the first month’s stipend into the accounts of 20,000 BC-Sakhis.

When BC-Sakhis begin their work as doorstep financial service providers at the grassroot level, they are paid a stipend of Rs 4,000 for six months to stabilise their work and then begin earning through transaction commissions, according to the PMO.

During the programme, PM Modi will also distribute over 20 crores to over one lakh beneficiaries of the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangala Scheme. The Scheme provides a girl child with conditional cash transfers at various stages of her life.

Each beneficiary will receive Rs 15,000 in total. “The stages are at birth (Rs 2,000), after completing one-year complete vaccination (Rs 1,000), admission in class-I (Rs 2,000), admission in class-VI (Rs 2,000), admission in class-IX (Rs 3,000), admission in any degree or diploma course after passing class X or XII (Rs 5,000),” it added.

According to the PMO, these units will provide Supplementary Nutrition under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) in 600 blocks across the state.
