THAT’S IT! Toyota Hilux pickup truck spotted unmasked in India for the first time – see photos

Toyota Hilux, the legendary Japanese pick-up truck, is eager to take on Indian roads. Toyota announced at the beginning of this month that the Hilux would be available in India. The pickup has been spotted undisguised in Cybercity Gurgaon ahead of its launch in January 2022, and it is the first time that the India-spec 2022 Toyota Hilux has been spotted undisguised ahead of its launch in early 2022.

Toyota’s Hilux is built on the same IMV-2 platform as the Innova Crysta and Fortuner, two of the company’s other workhorses. We anticipate that it will be powered by the same 2.4-litre diesel engine that produces 150 horsepower or the larger 2.8-liter diesel engine that produces 204 horsepower.

In terms of gearbox options, we’ve seen that both engines are available in our market with either a manual or automatic transmission, so the Hilux will have both. In addition, the Hilux will be available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations.

While the platform is the same, due to the loading bay, the pickup truck will be significantly longer than either of these models, measuring around 5.3 metres. In fact, the truck’s wheelbase alone is 3,080 mm, and its width is roughly the same as the Indian Fortuner.
