According to a Truecaller research, India is among the top five countries in the world for receiving the most spam calls

Caller ID application Truecaller has published the fifth edition of its annual Global Spam Report, which looks at how spam and fraud affect us all. Truecaller’s research on the Top 20 Countries Affected by Spam Calls in 2021 is available for free on the company’s website. According to the company, this year’s data demonstrated that not only has the virus impacted communication behavior, but it has also changed spam trends around the world. According to a business announcement, Truecaller was able to assist its 300 million global users in blocking and identifying 37.8 billion spam calls this year. Truecaller’s report delves into the huge changes in spam and fraud over the last year, outlining particular facts, the current situation, and what to expect in 2022.

According to the Truecaller Global Spam Report 2021, India has jumped from ninth to fourth place as a result of a significant increase in sales and telemarketing calls. All sales-related calls account for the vast majority (93.5%) of all inbound spam calls this year. This year, a single spammer in India made about 202 million spam calls. This translates to around 6,64,000 calls per day and 27,000 calls each hour.

Another noteworthy conclusion from the poll is that the ever-popular KYC fraud is one of the most common in the country. Fraudsters act as a bank, wallet, or digital payment provider and request the Reserve Bank of India’s KYC documentation.

Brazil lead the list of top countries plagued by spam calls in 2021, followed by Peru, Ukraine, and India, with Mexico trailing behind. For the fourth year in a row, Brazil has been voted the most spammed country in the world, with 32.9 spam calls per subscriber every month. Brazil’s average number of spam calls per user per month (32.9) is substantially greater than Peru’s (18.02 calls per user per month), which ranks second. In terms of calls, the United States dropped from second place in 2020 to twentieth place in 2021, therefore dropping out of the top 20 nations list.
