According to CM Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh would be a drone manufacturing hotspot, with businesses already lined up

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has devised a strategy to establish drone manufacturing facilities in the state.

Drones are increasingly being employed in a variety of industries, including agriculture, disaster management, health care, and law enforcement, among others.

“Considering the relevance of ‘drones’ in numerous domains such as disaster assistance, agriculture, and law and order maintenance,” stated Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, “a specific action plan should be devised to construct a drone manufacturing plant in the state.”

The chief minister has also directed that the state create its own manual. There are currently no defined restrictions for flying drones in the state.

According to him, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry has issued a policy on the subject. As a result, the state government should likewise develop drone regulations.

The handbook should include specific provisions for the drone users, such as the issue of a drone airworthiness certificate, maintenance certificate, acceptance of existing drones, operator permissions, student remote pilot license, remote pilot teacher authorization, and so on.

According to a government spokesman, given the relevance of unmanned aircraft in different domains such as disaster assistance, agriculture, and law and order, the chief minister recommended the drone manufacturing plant.

He has also considered launching certificate or diploma courses in drone technology in industrial training colleges, with assistance from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.

Instructing the officials, the chief minister further stated that drones, due to their accessibility and ease of usage, can contribute significantly to employment and economic growth in remote and inaccessible locations. There is also a lot of room for growth in the realm of drone manufacturing. Many corporations want to establish up shop in Uttar Pradesh, he claims.

The chief minister directed officials to approach additional investors and proposed that the Defence Corridor could be a beneficial region for this business.

He also requested that diploma/certificate courses in drone technology be established in ITIs and polytechnic institutes. “If necessary, IIT Kanpur should be consulted,” he added.

Drones were utilized extensively during the Covid epidemic, particularly for surveillance and disinfection spraying.
