Instagram will provide new capabilities to combat phoney and spam accounts; further information is available below

Instagram, which is owned by Facebook (now Meta), has started capturing a brief video selfie “to help authenticate that one is a genuine person.” Matt Navarra, a social media analyst, found the function, which is said to have been designed to reduce the number of fraudulent or spam accounts on the network. Facebook (now Meta) further ensures that no biometric data will be collected and that this function will only be utilised for identity verification. When a new user registers on the platform, existing users are not required to go through the identity management method.

Instagram appears to be requiring new users to record a quick video of themselves moving their heads in different directions to demonstrate that they are real people. The snapshot description mentioned that they want a short video of you bending your head in different angles to demonstrate your identity and that you are a real person.

Users must submit the video to Meta for identification verification once it has been recorded. The video, according to Meta, will never be visible on Instagram and will be deleted from the company’s servers within 30 days. The company further ensures that these selfie videos will not be used for facial recognition and that Meta will not collect any biometric information. Current users are not required to prove their identity; the new capability is only available to those who create new accounts. Instagram is also rumored to be developing a new function that will prompt users to take a break after a certain amount of time on the network.

Meanwhile, Instagram is rumoured to be adding subscriptions to its platform, which would provide artists with exclusive content available exclusively to users. The Meta-owned photo sharing network may be prepared for additional testing of the anticipated features. Instagram’s app store listing in the United States now includes a new “Instagram Subscriptions” in-app purchase option. Sensor Tower initially reported on the item, which was updated on November 1 and looks to be priced at $4.99, with a $0.99 option added a few days later.
