Dubai Authorities Warn of Heavy Fines for Vehicles with Expired Registrations, One-Month Relief Provided

Dubai authorities have issued a warning about imposing heavy fines on vehicles with expired registrations, amounting to Rs 10,000 in the initial phase. Alongside increased fines, additional disciplinary measures will also be enforced.

In a measure providing relief to vehicle owners, authorities have granted a one-month exemption from fines for vehicles with expired registrations. During this period, vehicle owners must complete the registration renewal process. Failure to renew the registration within the specified timeframe will result in substantial fines and potential confiscation of the vehicle. As an initial step, vehicles found without renewed registration will be impounded for seven days. Further punitive measures, including the imposition of black points, will be applied to the vehicle.

The authorities have released a list of designated locations where registration renewal can be processed. Vehicle owners can utilize the online website or app to renew registration for vehicles approaching expiration. Immediate renewal will be granted upon submission of the necessary documents and the prescribed fee.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai recently implemented an expedited system for issuing renewed driving licenses and vehicle registrations within two hours. The system also facilitates swift delivery of renewed licenses, even for individuals located outside the country. During the renewal application, applicants are required to present their Emirates ID and driving license.
