Make these 7 resolutions for a greener planet in the New Year of 2022

As we enter the New Year 2022, it is time to broaden our horizons and make resolutions that are beneficial not only to us, but to humanity as a whole. Many incidents or natural disasters have occurred recently, ranging from wildfires to storms and earthquakes. It is no secret that climate change is real and that the time has come to take action. As a result, let us commit to making these seven new year’s resolutions that will assist us, rather mother nature and future generations, in breathing easier.

Recycling and reusing

For the longest time, it has been argued that we must recycle more and more. But it’s not just about recycling plastic, paper, aluminum, cardboard, and other materials.
Items in our homes are frequently discarded as trash. Instead of discarding them, think creatively and begin reusing them. Green waste generated in our kitchens, for example, can be composted at home. Similarly, many other things can be reused; we just need to be creative with our thoughts to help us reduce our carbon footprints.

Produce your own food

It’s a great idea to have a kitchen garden or a kitchen. Instead of buying pre-packaged foods, you can grow basic vegetables and fruits at home. These will be far healthier because they will be pesticide-free.

Use reusable cloth bags instead.

Switch to reusable cloth bags instead of plastic or paper bags. While plastic is bad for the environment, so are paper bags because many trees are cut down to make them. Make sure to bring a reusable cloth bag with you the next time you go shopping so that you can reduce your use of plastic and paper bags.

Start carpooling or paddling to work.

This is one of the most frequently heard ‘green steps.’ Air pollution is a significant source of concern. While we may enjoy showing off our expensive sedans, it is only logical that we carpool with friends, family, or coworkers when commuting. The use of public transportation also helps the cause. However, if you prefer to cycle to work, you will not only reduce your carbon footprint but will also become more fit.

Borrow or exchange

Why purchase new items when we can exchange or borrow them? Instead of purchasing a new book, you could either exchange it with a friend or visit a library. Never, ever, ever throw away old clothes! You can either give them to those in need or resell them online, as long as they are clean and wearable.
In fact, many environmentally conscious businesses have begun to accept used clothing for free in exchange for discount coupons.

Become water smart

Water conservation is another important aspect of the green movement. Simple steps like rainwater harvesting and water recycling can help us reduce water waste. And while we’re on the subject of water, start carrying a water bottle with you so you don’t have to buy plastic bottles, even if the bottles say they’re’recyclable.’
