At Adimalathura beach in Kerala, a dog was brutally thrashed to death.

Thiruvananthapuram: Three people have been detained in Vizhinjam, Thiruvananthapuram, for torturing a beloved dog by hanging it on a fishhook in a boat and beating it to death. The Vizhinjam police arrested Sunil, Sylvester, and a minor from Adimalathura, Thiruvananthapuram, on July 1. The owner of the Labrador dog, Christuraj, had shared photos of the accused abusing the dog on social media. A witness recorded the video and sent it to Christuraj. The images show a black Labrador dog on a boat hooked to a fishing hook. A stick is seen being used to beat the animal by the accused. They eventually threw the dog into the water.

According to reports, the dog was assaulted and murdered for resting under the accused’s boat. On June 28, the incident occurred. Since the video went public, Christuraj claims that the accused have intimidated him and even assaulted his family members before they were caught. In a press conference, he said that the accused had threatened to kill him in the same way that his dog had been killed.

Sunil, one of the accused, and Christuraj, according to the police, are neighbours who have a history of feuding. According to the authorities, this was the reason for the attack. Bruno, the seven-year-old dog, was a peaceful and gentle animal, according to Christuraj. He informed the media that the dog routinely went to the shore to play, and that it had sat near the boat for a time before being assaulted by the accused.

The Edakkara police in Malappuram district detained a man in April 2021 for tying a dog to his scooter with a rope and dragging it down the road. A witness who recorded the footage later rescued the dog. In December 2020, a similar act of brutality occurred in Ernakulam. A dog owner was charged for tying a dog to the boot of a moving car with a rope and dragging it for 500 metres on the road.
