Stay at home and watch Covid-appropriate behaviour: A government hospital in Greater Noida issues a warning about the third wave

Noida: The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida issued an advisory urging people to wear masks and follow guidelines as the coronavirus pandemic enters its third wave.

“COVID-19’s third wave is nearly complete. Take extreme caution, “The GIMS stated in its advisory that the next four weeks are critical.

With the reported increase in COVID-19 cases in the country, it is advised to stay at home (as much as possible) and practice Covid-appropriate behavior with immediate effect, according to the hospital.

“Fortunately, the disease’s severity is not very high, and the number of hospitalizations is lower when compared to the number of Covid positive cases,” it said.

The GIMS advisory stated that Covid-appropriate behavior is a “must” for preventing the third wave of the pandemic. It advised people to wash their hands thoroughly with soap or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer, to wear masks, and to avoid touching their nose, eyes, or mask.

In addition to ensuring both doses of vaccination, the advisory advised people to keep a physical distance of 6 feet from others and to practice coughing etiquettes. Children under the age of 15, pregnant women, adults with co-morbidities, and those over the age of 60, according to the hospital, “must stay at home.”

“If you have a fever, isolate yourself immediately, don’t panic, monitor your oxygen levels, and take medications at home (Paracetamol, cetirizine, azithromycin),” the GIMS, an autonomous body under the UP government, advised.

Only report to the hospital if your oxygen saturation falls below 92-94 percent, it says. The hospital advised calling the district’s Integrated Covid Command Centre (ICCC) at 18004192211 in case of an emergency.
