Telangana has declared holidays for educational institutions beginning January 8 due to an increase in COVID-19 cases

New Delhi: Due to an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced on Monday (January 3, 2022) that all educational institutions in the state would be closed from January 8 to 16.

Rao stated during a meeting with ministers and officials about the rising COVID-19 cases in Telangana that beds, oxygen-supported beds, medicines, and testing kits would be procured as needed.

He also decided to establish more ‘Basti Dawakhanas’ (clinics in residential areas) across the state to provide medical services to the general public.

The chief minister urged people not to panic as a result of the Omicron scare, but to be cautious and follow COVID-appropriate behaviour.

Telangana has no curfews or lockdowns.
In light of the rising number of coronavirus infections, Telangana’s Health Department has ruled out imposing a lockdown or night curfew in the state.

Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, said there were no plans to declare a lockdown.

“In any case, there will be no lockdown or nighttime curfew in the state. There is some false/misleading information about lockdowns and night curfews circulating on social media “He stated.

It is worth noting that the K Chandrashekhar Rao government has already banned rallies, public meetings, and mass gatherings of any kind, including religious, political, and cultural gatherings, until January 10 in order to stem the spread of COVID-19 cases.
