Delhi’s air quality remains in the’very poor’ category

On Wednesday, the air quality in the national capital remained in the “very poor” category (January 5, 2022).

The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was 369 in the morning, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain over and around Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Wednesday.

Through strong dispersion and wet deposition, high winds and intermittent rains are expected to significantly improve AQI to the “lower end of very poor.”

It is worth noting that an AQI of zero to 50 is considered ‘good,’ 51 to 100’satisfactory,’ 101 to 200’moderate,’ 201 to 300 ‘poor,’ 301 to 400’very poor,’ and 401 to 500’severe.’

Earlier on Tuesday, the minimum temperature in Delhi rose a few degrees Celsius, to 8.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal. The maximum temperature on Tuesday was 23.2 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal, according to the India Meteorological Department.
