Mice plague strikes Australia, as farmers pin hope on the banned poison from India

Thousands of small rodents breed in rural communities in New South Wales, Australia, leading to the worst outbreak of plague in decades. Several videos posted on social media showed carpets of mice scrambling across barn floors, crowded around machinery, entering thick steel-grain silos, as farmers struggled to control rodents.

Footage broadcast by local media showed that mice also entered homes, into containers, and found their way into water tanks. According to local reports, they also beat farmers and patients in the hospital while they were sleeping.
