Report: Tata Altroz automatic (DCT) variant confirmed, launch imminent:

The Tata Altroz has been well received by buyers looking for a premium hatchback. However, the lack of an automatic transmission has prompted many prospective buyers to look elsewhere, including the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Volkswagen Polo, among others. According to a new report, Tata has confirmed on Twitter that an automatic transmission for Altroz will be available soon.

In the Altroz, Tata Motors is expected to use a dual-clutch automatic transmission. This transmission will be a 7-speed unit that will be available in the next 3 to 4 months. Tata’s DCT transmission is expected to be paired with the Altroz’s turbo engine variant.

The Tata Altroz has a 5-star safety rating for adult occupants and is the only premium hatchback in India to receive the highest score in Global NCAP crash tests. Tata Motors intends to offer a CNG variant of the Altroz alongside the automatic variant.

The CNG option could be available on the mid-spec XT variant and above, with a premium of Rs 30-50k over the regular petrol manual variant.

Tata Motors will introduce the Altroz EV this year as part of its electric vehicle lineup, following the Tigor EV in 2021.
