The number of COVID-19 cases in India has increased dramatically, with 90,928 new infections, bringing the total to 2,630

New Delhi: According to data released by the Ministry of Health on Thursday, India recorded 90,928 new COVID-19 cases and 325 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 4,82,876. (January 6, 2022). The total number of active cases is 2,85,401.

In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has increased by 71,397 cases. Today, the country recorded 19,206 recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,43,41,009.

According to data from the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 495 new Omicron infections, bringing the total number of such cases in the country to 2,630. According to the Health Ministry, at least 995 people have recovered.

Maharashtra has the most Omicron cases (797), followed by Delhi (465), Rajasthan (236), Kerala (234), Karnataka (226), Gujarat (204) and Tamil Nadu (121).

Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Manipur, and Punjab are among the states and union territories that have reported cases of the new variant.
