Case Against Actor Siddharth Over Sexist Comment Against Saina Nehwal

Hyderabad Police filed a case against actor Siddharth for making derogatory comments against Olympic bronze medalist Saina Nehwal on Twitter.

” A woman named Prerna approached Cyber Crime Wing and lodged a complaint against actor Siddharth for his sexist remarks against shuttler Saina Nehwal on Twitter.”  : Additional DCP, Cyber Crime Wing, Detective Department, Hyderabad said.

On the basis of the complaint a case has been registered under Sections 509 of the Indian Penal Code and 67 of Information Technology Act and an investigation has been taken up. Notice will be issued to Siddharth, the additional DCP said.

Sidharth apologized to Ms Nehwal  after receiving severe backlash for his “rude joke” directed towards the badminton player.

In an open letter, Siddharth said that his ‘word play’ and ‘humour’ had no malicious intent.
