Kerala reported 18,123 new COVID cases, 150 deaths on Sunday

Kerala reported 18,123 new Corona cases on Sunday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity rate was jumped to 30.55 per cent. The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thiruvananthapuram- 3,917, Ernakulam-3,204, Thrissur-1,700, Kozhikode-1,643, Kottayam-1,377, Pathanamthitta-999, Kollam-998, Palakkad-889, Malappuram-821, Alappuzha-715, Kannur-649, Idukki-594, Wayanad-318 and Kasaragod-299.

A total of 59,314 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. 2,17,670 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 2,13,251 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 4,419 people are in hospitals. 528 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.
Among the 1,03,864 active Covid cases reported, only 4 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals. Along with 8 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 150 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. With this, the death toll climbed to 50,832 in the state.

113 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 17,627 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 234 patients remains unidentified. 149 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Meanwhile, 4,749 recoveries were also reported in the state. The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-511, Kollam-29, Pathanamthitta-476, Alappuzha-217, Kottayam-305, Idukki-128, Ernakulam-1492, Thrissur-276, Palakkad-248, Malappuram-135, Kozhikode-415, Wayanad-125, Kannur-289 and Kasaragod-103.
