Fertiliser-laced water kills 8 peacocks in Telangana

Eight peacocks in Telangana died after consuming water contaminated with fertilizer. According to the reports the peacocks had come to Devilal Thanda in Warangal’s Parvathagiri Mandal for quenching their thirst, according to forest officials. The birds drank water containing fertiliser which was meant to be used in farming fields for the cultivation of paddy crops.

Consequently, the birds died. villagers spotted the carcasses of the peacocks, following which the police and forest officials were alerted. Warangal forest range officer reached the farming field for conducting an inspection. The officer stated samples of the dead peacocks have been sent for necropsy. Further investigation into the matter will be done on the basis of necropsy reports, he added. This comes months after some miscreants killed five street dogs by pouring acid into their mouths.
