Kerala logs 22,524 new COVID cases; 113 death reported

Kerala reported 22,524 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity was recorded as 28.62 per cent.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thiruvananthapuram- 3493, Ernakulam-3490, Kottayam-2786, Kollam-2469, Thrissur-1780, Kozhikode-1612, Malappuram-1218, Alappuzha-1109, Pathanamthitta-1053, Kannur-1031, Palakkad-816, Idukki-737, Wayanad-617and Kasaragod-313.

A total of 78,682 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. 4,74,949 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,65,565 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 9384 people are in hospitals.847 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday. Among the 3,01,424 active Covid cases reported, only 3.2 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.

Along with 14new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 113 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. Apart from this, 733 more deaths recorded late due to the delay in obtaining the documents were also added to the list of COVID deaths. With this, the death toll climbed to 59,115 in the state.

Among the new patients, 114 were returned from outside the state. 21,033 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 1207 patients remains unidentified. 190 health workers also tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, 49,586 recoveries were also reported in the state. The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-4739, Kollam-4365, Pathanamthitta-1950, Alappuzha-4400, Kottayam-4400, Idukki-2486, Ernakulam-8943, Thrissur-7038, Palakkad-3387, Malappuram-2185, Kozhikode-3970, Wayanad-1296, Kannur-1572, and Kasaragod-453. 59,32,609 people were recovered from the disease so far.
