Kerala reports 7,780 new covid 19 infections; TPR @ 12. 31%

Despite the decline of cases Kerala reports new 7,780 infections on Friday with TPR @ 12. 31%, informed the health department in a press release. The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam- 1403, Thiruvananthapuram-858, Kozhikode-746, Thrissur-692, Kottayam-661, Kollam-604, Alappuzha-486, Malappuram-444, Idukki-434, Pathanamthitta-386, Palakkad-363, Wayanad-324 and Kasaragod-97.

A total of 63,192 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. 1,97,630 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 1,93,186 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 4444 people are in hospitals. 626 people were taken to hospitals on Friday. Among the 85,875 active Covid cases reported, only 5 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.

Along with 18 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 130 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. Apart from this, 43 more deaths recorded late due to the delay in obtaining the documents were also added to the list of COVID deaths. With this, the death toll climbed to 63,529 in the state.

Among the new patients, 69 were returned from outside the state. 7124 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 537 patients remains unidentified. 50 health workers also tested positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, 21,134 recoveries were also reported in the state.

The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-2789, Kollam-3378, Pathanamthitta-1312, Alappuzha-1013, Kottayam-1915, Idukki-1243, Ernakulam-2932, Thrissur-1631, Palakkad-837, Malappuram-1343, Kozhikode-1245, Wayanad-639, Kannur-633, and Kasaragod-224. 63,06,611 people were recovered from the disease so far.
