S Gopan Nair : Senior journalist and the voice behind the anti tobacco ads dies at 79

Thiruvananthapuram : S Gopan Nair, senior journalist and former head of All India Radio dies at the age of 79 . He was undergoing treatment for bacterial infections in New Delhi due to old age-related illness.

He was a longtime news anchor in Aakashwani. After the retirement, he had been performing programs for free, sky and sky. He retired as the director of Malayalam section.

After retiring from All India Radio, Gopan Nair had lent his voice for commercials. His magnificent voice had given life to public interest commercials by different ministries. He was also credited with giving voice to anti tobacco ads. For 39 years he was a news star at Aakashwani.

He has been a well known figure in the field of journalism. Although he has died, he will be alive forever through his works.
