Due to the COVID pandemic, Karnataka would strictly monitor visitors from Kerala and Maharashtra

From Monday forward, the Karnataka government has begun taking strict measures to deal with the COVID-19 danger in the state, including increasing security at border posts.

Special teams have been constituted to ensure appropriate monitoring of visitors entering the state from Kerala and Maharashtra, particularly in Bengaluru.

Chief Commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Gaurav Gupta, has issued an order to check and enforce RT-PCR tests on visitors from Kerala and Maharashtra, which are experiencing an increase in Covid cases.

The special drive would take place in Bengaluru, with zonal commissioners and health inspectors in charge. Revenue officers have also been assigned to perform checks and guarantee to test at all entry points in Bengaluru.

Officials at the Revenue Department will check to see if travelers have a 72-hour RT-PCR test certificate. Those who do not have the certificate would be subjected to an RT-PCR test by health department personnel.

Majestic Railway station, bus station, Mysore Road Satellite bus terminal, Yashwanthpur Railway station and bus stop, Kengeri Satellite bus terminal, Shivajinagar bus terminal, Cantonment Railway station, and K.R. Puram railway station are all considered entry points for visitors from these states. On these points, they will be rigorously supervised.

The health secretariat has created guidelines, and the government has issued stern measures to address the Covid crisis.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has already stated that the administration will make a decision on restoring limitations that were recently abolished after observing happenings in the state for 15 days.

On Sunday, Karnataka recorded 1,875 new Covid-19 infections and 25 fatalities, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 29,06,999 and the death toll to 36,587.
